With heavy hearts, Grandview Kids mourns the passing of Ross Mackie – a cherished friend, generous donor and unwavering advocate for Grandview Kids and the Durham Region community.
The Mackie Group’s relationship with Grandview Kids began in 2005. After years of support, Ross personally connected with Grandview Kids in 2012, forming a bond that grew through his visits to our former Oshawa headquarters. His kindness, generosity and passion for supporting children and youth left an astounding mark on our organization.
For 20 years, the Mackie family has been deeply intertwined with Grandview Kids, supporting fundraising events and initiatives that uplift the clients and families we serve. Ross was undeniably a champion for our mission, proudly wrapping his trucks to promote the Believe Campaign and meeting with our inspiring ambassadors along the way. For many years at Golf Fore Grandview Kids, Team Grandview and our participants eagerly anticipated the arrival of the legendary Mackie truck—a symbol of Ross’s unwavering support and dedication to Grandview Kids.
In 2024, as we moved into our new headquarters in Ajax, we honoured his remarkable legacy on our donor wall and with a plaque at the bus drop-off lane outside Grandview School – a lasting tribute to his impact that will foster the potential of future generations of Grandview Kids students.
Ross touched countless lives, and his spirit will continue to inspire us. Grandview Kids will be present at his memorial services to honour the incredible friend we have lost. Please find the details for Ross’ memorial service here.
Thank you, Ross, for sharing your generosity and kindness with Grandview Kids and many other incredible organizations across Durham Region. Your impact lives on in the smiles and laughter of the children, youth and families your legacy continues to support. We are deeply saddened by your passing and forever grateful to have known you. Your legacy will continue to inspire us all.
