Location
This building is located at 1461 Harwood Ave N, Ajax, Ontario L1T 4T9. There are traffic lights at the building entrance/exit. There is a Durham Transit bus stop out front.
Parking
Clients, families and other visitors may park in the spaces located out front of the building, facing Harwood Road (see map below). Parking is free. Accessible parking spaces are marked.
You may drop off clients and family members for appointments, but do not idle or park out front of the building as it blocks the entrance for emergency vehicles and causes pollution.
Visitors to Grandview School should park in the North Parking Lot, to the left of the building. Staff parking is located to the right of the building.

The Ajax Public Library branch, located within our new headquarters, will be open to the public:

- Saturdays between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (on weekends the Centre is open).
Entering the building
As you approach the building, you will see large, glass doors, with the Grandview Kids name and logo on the outside of the building. The entrance faces Harwood Road. This is the only public entrance to the building. This is where all clients, families and visitors enter the building.
Note: Students, families and guests of the Grandview School should proceed to the School’s entrance at the North side of the building.
Going to an appointment
When you enter the building, go through the double set of sliding glass doors into our Atrium. From here, proceed to the Welcome Desk, located on the right side of the Atrium. There is overhead signage saying, “Welcome Desk” and “Registration.” Here, you will be greeted by members of Team Grandview, who will tell you where to go for your appointment.
We have three waiting areas in the building. Depending on the team or program you are attending, your waiting area may change between visits. Check with the Welcome Desk staff or volunteers if you are not sure which Waiting Area you should go to.
Navigating the building
Elevators are available to access Levels 1, 2 and 3. To get to the elevators, walk past the Welcome Desk on Level 1, down the main hallway. Follow the blue river-like design on the floor to take you to the elevators.
There is a large, glass staircase in the Atrium that leads to Level 2. There is no staircase access to Level 3 unless escorted by a staff member or during an emergency.
If you or your child prefers to take the stairs, please ask someone from the Welcome Desk to escort you.
Therapy and Medical Services are delivered on Levels 2 and 3. The Pool is on Level 1. The large Gymnasium is on Level 2. Level 4 is restricted to staff only.
Each department in the building is signalled by a wayfinding icon: an animal or insect with specific Indigenous meanings that denotes the entryway to a department. The icons are shown on signage throughout the building to help you find your way.
Level 1
On level 1, the Learning Centre is represented by wolves, the Executive Office by an eagle, the pool by a salmon, the Outdoor Sensory Trail by a deer and Building Services by a rabbit.
Level 2
On level 2, Grandview School is represented by an owl and Therapy Services by a butterfly.
Level 3
On level 3, Therapy Services is represented by a dragonfly, Medical Services by bears and Partnership Space by a sandhill crane.
