ELIGIBLE FOR OAP CORE CLINICAL SERVICES BUDGETS
Overview:
The goal of this group is to provide a fun place to enjoy some activities this summer while focusing on group readiness and social interaction skills. Youth will have an opportunity to interact with peers in the Grandview outdoor enclosed playground and, on cloudy/rainy days, in the indoor gym.
The goals for the group participants may include:
- Following instructions directed toward a group
- Turn-taking with peers
- Interactive play with peers
- Greeting others
- Participating in a structured group activity
- Attending to a facilitator
- Practice compromising and sharing
- Gross motor play skills
Program development and supervision are overseen by Grandview staff including, Autism Therapy Assistants, Behaviour Analysts and an Occupational Therapist.
Details:
Sessions will run on Mondays from 5 pm to 6 pm from July 8 to August 26, 2024 (there will be no session on August 5) at Grandview Kids Oshawa Main Site (600 Townline Road South, Oshawa).
Youth who might benefit from this group:
- Are aged 12-16.
- Would benefit from support in a 2:1 client to staff ratio.
- Have a reliable method of communicating their wants and needs.
- Are able to remain in an enclosed location and/or respect a closed door.
- Do not engage in dangerous behaviour towards themselves or others.
