Overview
In partnership with the client and parents/caregivers, we provide different types of services, tailored to meet your child’s specific needs and goals.
Behaviour services: Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA) and Autism Therapy Assistants (ATA) provide services based on the evidence-based principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Consultation may be provided by a Speech-Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist, if required.
Other clinical services: This may include Speech-Language Pathology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy consultations and/or treatment.

Registration
1. In order to receive funding and support for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) therapy, YOUR CHILD MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE ONTARIO AUTISM PROGRAM (OAP).
This registration should be done as soon as possible in order to secure your child’s spot in the OAP.
a. If you are NOT already registered in the OAP as of 12 October 2022, you can register via AccessOAP. Only the parent/caregiver is able to do this on their behalf. There are three ways to create an AccessOAP account:
- Online – The fastest way to get started is to go to www.AccessOAP.ca and set up an account. Account creators will need an active email address.
- Phone – Families can contact AccessOAP at 1-833-425-2445 (Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM), and they will help families get started.
- Mail – New families can create an account and apply to the OAP by mail. Families will be able to download and print forms found on www.AccessOAP.ca. AccessOAP can also mail registration forms to families who submit a request to our contact centre.
b. If you are already registered with the OAP BEFORE 12 October 2022 and submitted a completed registration form and supporting documents to the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services’ (MCCSS) Central Resource Team (CRT) before October 12, you do not need to register again with AccessOAP. Once your registration form is processed, you will receive a Confirmation of Registration letter from the ministry. Ask the Ontario Autism Program Central Resource Team about:
- Status of your OAP registration
- Childhood budgets and interim one-time funding

2. NO OAP PROGRAMMING, provincially or at Grandview Kids, CAN START UNTIL THIS REGISTRATION PROCESS IS COMPLETE AND YOUR CHILD HAS AN “OAP NUMBER.”
This number is very important! Parents should familiarize themselves with the OAP website, including how they are allowed to use the funds that will be sent to them for therapies for their child or find out about other programming for which their child might be eligible.
3. ONE-PAGE LETTER OF DIAGNOSIS
In order to complete the registration, you will require proof of your child’s ASD diagnosis from the Grandview Kids doctor who completed this assessment. You should have been sent a one-page letter with your child’s name and diagnosis immediately following the feedback from your doctor. Please let us know if, for some reason, you did not receive this letter. You can also use this letter as proof of diagnosis.

About Ontario’s Autism Program (OAP)
Children and youth who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by a qualified professional are eligible for the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) until age 18. Ontario is working towards developing a new needs-based and sustainable autism program. During this transition, it continues to offer services and supports to improve outcomes for children and youth on the autism spectrum.
Children who are registered for the OAP and are on the waitlist may be eligible to receive interim one-time funding to purchase eligible services and supports. The importance of your OAP number
After a child is diagnosed, the family/caregiver must register the child with the OAP (register here). You will then receive a unique OAP number for the child. This number is very important! You will be asked to provide the child’s OAP number to access provincial autism programming, whether it’s using your own childhood budget or one-time funding, or Foundational Family Services from an OAP service provider, such as Grandview Kids.
Without providing the OAP number, you cannot access programs and services within the OAP. At Grandview Kids, this includes: Foundational Family Services (workshops), behaviour services, core therapy services (OT/PT/SLP) and our online “Grandview OAP Info” Facebook page. The OAP number helps the Ministry and service providers track what services are being accessed, so we can better understand what is most valuable to families. This enables providers, like Grandview Kids, to improve our OAP offerings for clients and caregivers. Tracking participation in various OAP programs does not impact individual needs-based budgets.
