The Connect & Play group at Grandview Kids is designed for children and youth to participate in engaging, play-based activities that promote physical, social and emotional growth. Key goals include enhancing gross motor play skills, developing fine motor coordination, and fostering essential social skills such as cooperative play, turn-taking, and interactive peer engagement.
A variety of activities are offered, including structured group activities, board games, gross motor play in the gymnasium, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, and scavenger hunts. Each activity is carefully selected to encourage movement, creativity, and fun in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Group outcomes may include:
- Improved physical development through enhanced gross motor and fine motor skills.
- Increased social skills, such as turn-taking and interactive play with peers.
- Enhanced group participation through engagement in structured group activities, following group rules, and contributing in a group setting.
- Boosted emotional regulation by way of cooperation and turn-taking in group activities.
- Strengthened creative thinking through arts and crafts and scavenger hunts

Start date: Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to December 9, 2025.
Time: 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Location: Grandview Kids Ajax Headquarters (1461 Harwood Avenue North, Ajax, L1T 0R3)
Participants who might benefit from this group:
- Between the ages of 9-12
- Would benefit from support in a 3:1 client to staff ratio
- Have a reliable method of communicating their wants and needs
- Are able to remain in an enclosed location and/or respect a closed-door
- Do not engage in dangerous behaviour towards themselves or others
- Show respect for self, peers and adults
Program development and supervision are overseen by Grandview staff, including an Occupational Therapist and Therapy Assistants. Additionally, Behaviour Analyst consultation for in-group needs such as transitions, appropriate group behaviours, and following group instructions will be available to the group facilitators.
Cancellation Policy:
Program fees are eligible for OAP Core Clinical Services budgets. Please note that fees for this group are non-refundable if cancelled.
