This program will give your child the basics when it comes to getting active. Children who participate in Active Start will learn to kick, catch, throw, hop, run, skip and jump in a group environment. They will enhance their physical literacy skills through active play and game-based activities.
This program is for children 18 months to six years with developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome or any other intellectual disability.
There is a three to one ratio of participants to staff and parental involvement is encouraged, so parents can get in on the fun, too! Children participating must be able to stand on their own and follow two-step instructions.
This program runs once per week for ten weeks. A full break down of weeks one through ten can be found here.
