Isobel will always be a Grandview Kid.
Beginning treatment at age two, Isobel spent many years receiving Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Grandview Children’s Centre.
Isobel underwent a major surgery at Sick Kids Hospital when she was 7 years old. The operation was to lengthen all of her muscles from the waist down.
“The recovery was much longer than I expected but with the help from Grandview’s awesome staff, I recovered and was walking so much better,” explained Isobel.
Told throughout childhood that she had Cerebral Palsy-like symptoms, it wasn’t until she was 15 years old that Isobel received a diagnosis. She has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy.
Now 26, Grandview is still a big part of Isobel’s life. She just finished her first year of the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist Assistant program, and will be going back in September 2018 for her second and final year, with hopes of graduating in June 2019.
“I want to be able to help children get through their therapy, just as Grandview helped me through mine,” she said. “I will hopefully get a job at Grandview to work with kids that may be going through what I did when I was a client there.”
