Grandview receives “Accredited with Exemplary Standing” award from Accreditation Canada

Grandview's 2013 seal from Accreditation Canada: Accredited with Exemplary StatusIn June 2013, Grandview Children's Centre received a full Accreditation award with commendation from Accreditation Canada surpassing the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program.

Further to this award, Grandview made an additional submission to Accreditation Canada to review evidence of follow-up requirements.

As a result, in December 2013 Accreditation Canada determined that all requirements have been met and the decision awarded to Grandview Children's Centre was changed to Accredited with Exemplary Standing.

According to Bernadette MacDonald, Vice-President, Innovation and Development, Accreditation Canada, "This achievement demonstrates Grandview's determination and commitment to ongoing quality improvement. Grandview's leadership, staff, and accreditation team members are to be congratulated for their efforts and dedication to the provision of safe, quality health services."

Grandview's Director of Clinical Services, Leslie Suite, says, "I know that we are all proud to be part of an organization recognized for our commitment to ongoing quality improvement - a journey filled with challenges, opportunities and accomplishments. I am privileged to work with such inspired and inspiring colleagues, always doing our best for Grandview Kids and their families."

Accreditation Canada's programs and guidance have helped organizations promote quality health care for over 50 years. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) that provides national and international health care organizations with an external peer review process to assess and improve the services they provide to their patients and clients based on standards of excellence.

This is the eighth time since 1991 that Grandview has been accredited by this national body, which measures compliance with national standards for all aspects of health care organizations.

Thanks to our Board of Trustees and staff who participated in the tracers.

We also appreciate the support of our community partners who participated in the Community Focus group with the accreditation surveyor.

We extend special thanks and appreciation to the families who gave permission for their child's therapy sessions to be observed, and took time to have one-on-one conversations with the surveyors, as well as to the families who participated in the Family Focus group.

Grandview is honoured to have such wonderful friends.

It is a privilege for us to provide service to the children and families in our community and to have such dedicated staff and volunteers, and the leadership of a progressive Board of Trustees.

The Accreditation survey process is an opportunity for Grandview to showcase and boast about the things we do well… the things we are proud of, and living the mission, vision, and values of our organization. It is also an opportunity for us to learn from our colleagues, the surveyors, so that we can continue on our path of quality improvement.

Our next Accreditation is June 2017.
