About The Active Start Program
Thanks to a grant from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund we are pleased to offer the Active Start Program.
The program is for children 18 months to six years with developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome or any other intellectual disability. Children learn to kick, catch, throw, hop, run, skip and jump in a group environment. Enhance physical literacy skills through active play and game-based activities..
There is a three to one ratio of participants to staff and parental involvement is encouraged.
Children must be able to stand on their own and follow two-step instructions. Currently there are four groups a week for ten weeks starting March 2017.
The program is $20 for each 10-week session. Financial assistance is also available.
